PRT Analytical reports: Designed to boost confidence in PRT forecasts and trading decisions that are based upon them

PRT provides three reports to support trading activity for Power Traders and Analysts. These reports are designed to help traders and analysts quickly determine which days are more bullish or bearish and help identify risk due to weather forecast model changes.

PRT Morning Report: Provides a quick look at which days are more bullish or bearish with a simple supply demand calculation (load-wind-solar). Delivered Monday through Friday at 7 a.m. Central.
PRT Afternoon Report: Provides more detailed power analytics regarding load and wind forecast changes and the potential impacts on power markets. Delivered Monday through Friday at 3 p.m. Central.
PRT Weekly Report: Provides a review of the week’s load and wind forecasts and a comparison between PRT versus the ISO forecasts to determine if any of these forecasts are showing directional bias. Delivered every Friday at 3 p.m. Central.

PRT Long-Term Forecast

The PRT Long-Term Forecast is designed to give a long-range forecast for load and wind generation. These forecasts are built using data from the following climate indices: Southern Oscillation Index (SOI), North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), Arctic Oscillation (AO), Pacific-North American Index (PNA), and Eastern Pacific Oscillation (EPO). Each forecast includes unique maps, charts of various climate indices, expert commentary, and an hourly load forecast that allows traders and analyst to be more confident than ever in their trading decisions.

PRT Long-Term Forecast: Provides a long-range forecast for load and wind generation looking forward 90 days. Sent approximately on the seventh working day of each month and two weeks later depending on weather model data availability.

Hydro-Generation Forecast

The PRT Hydro-Generation Forecast provides support to traders and analysts, offering expert commentary, On-peak and Off-peak forecasts, and hourly hydro-generation forecasts and models for the Columbia and Snake Rivers, the Idaho panhandle, and Western Washington.

Each Monday power traders and analysts receive a combination of reports with expert commentary on operational issues that Federal Agencies such as the Bonneville Power Administration, the Army Corp of Engineers, and Bureau of Reclamation navigate along with a report detailing hydro-meteorological conditions.

On Tuesdays analysts and traders receive reports that include a 14-day hourly hydro-generation forecast, hydro-generation unit models for Western Washington and Oregon, a 120-day daily On-peak and Off-peak hydro-generation forecast, and a 120-day daily On-peak and Off-peak forecast based on the STP Forecast.
